Meridians- Crystal Points/Wands

I talk a lot about using crystals to balance chakra correspondences but let’s go another energy level deeper. Those of you who work in the field as professionals may be familiar working with the body’s meridian points.

Meridians are energy pathways that flow through the body- mainly used in Chinese medicine, but have been adapted and used in many healing modalities.

When the elements are in balance relative to one another, they work together for our optimal health. When they are out of balance, due to a variety of reasons, they contribute to the decline of our health.

We basically have 12 main meridians that run through our body and each corresponds with a major organ. Plus two centreline meridians. Each one of these corresponds to one of the 5 elements

Before we discuss the function of each meridian and their corresponding emotions, affirmations, and crystals, it is important to understand the concept of elements.

The Five Elements

Chinese traditional philosophical systems and traditional medicine are based on the concept of Five Elements, which represent fundamental natural elements and their interaction. This is applied to spiritual, mental, emotional and physical aspects of human existence. The elements are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water.

Imbalance is defined as both an excessive energy, as well as insufficient energy in an organ/meridian/element.

Within the 5 elements we have what we call the supportive and destructive cycle.

The natural cycle can be supportive (generating) or destructive (overcoming).

The supportive cycle:

Wood feeds Fire

Fire generates Earth

Earth makes Metal

Metal creates Water

Water feeds Wood

The destructive cycle:

Wood destabilizes Earth

Fire melts Metal

Earth absorbs Water

Metal chops Wood

Water extinguishes Fire

It’s an interesting cycle that, in every 2 hours the chi ( energy) for each organ is at its strongest and combined they complete a 24 hour cycle every day!

Each meridian is either

  • yin - a receiver of energy or
  • yang a giver/ emitter of energy.

It’s when both these energies are In Balance that they create an inner harmony - body- soul - spirit. So let’s break it down a bit further.

The 2 main centreline meridians that run through the centre of our body- on both the front AND the back

  • Governing meridian that directs YANG energy - giver/expresser/emitter
  • Central meridian that directs the flow for YIN energy - the receiver

Crystals and the Meridians

We can use our crystals  as a tool to ‘trace’ the meridians to help clear blockages and any stagnant energy flow within not only the physical body but our energetic field to balance our systems and therefore achieve optimum health.

Crystal wands are the perfect tool for this work, as their directive points can be used easily to trace the meridian lines. This is easy to do and it’s a quick way to reset the flow of energy. It’s not something I’d recommend doing at night time as it will increase energy flow and it could possibly interrupt your sleep pattern.

With Meridian work we can match the properties of particular crystals to benefit each point.

Before starting any energy work such as meridian tracing. I place a grounding stone at the earth star chakra in order to remain grounded during the work. Or perhaps you’d prefer for the recipient to hold a grounding stone in each hand.

Magnetite in particular is one of my absolute must have crystals when doing any wellbeing work. Not only is it balancing and grounding, but it’s magnetic properties have a realigning effect and can sedate over energetic points with a negative charge or add positive charges to sluggish points. Self aligning and keeps us from being spacey and ungrounded.

If you’ve been to see me at the markets or purchased a wand from me online you will be familiar with my aura brushing booklet. I suggest selenite, clear Quartz and kyanite for this work as energetically the metaphysical properties of these crystals are perfect for cleansing. So these of course can be useful for meridian tracing.

Inparticular my suggestions Include our Master healers such as

  • Clear quartz - master healer
  • Lemurians- master healer- often unblocks what other crystals can not- good for stubborn energy points
  • Amethyst - master healer, calming , soothing
  • Golden healer - empowers healing on all levels

  • Lepidolite - dissipate negative energy is an excellent mineral for locating imbalances. This in part could be due to its high mica content.
  • Calcite - removes and shifts stagnant energy
  • Hematite - grounds and rebalances yin energy
  • Tourmalinated Quartz - dissolves blockages  and restores balance. Quartz is an amplifier and master healer the tourmaline inclusions grounding and highly protective
