Crystals and the Elements

Since ancient  times both eastern and western cultures have used and developed the idea of elements. These ideas were said to relate to and explain some of the mysteries of nature. The western version was conceived by the ancient Greeks and refined by philosophers such as Plato and Aristotle.

While the eastern equivalent had 5 elements, the Greek had 4 elements, air, fire, water and earth. These four elements not only described the physical world but also the personalities and characteristics of human nature too, and of course these also relate to our crystalline family.

It’s not always easy to identify crystals by their elements , not only are Crystals formed by the elements . For instance obsidian is formed by fire and relates to the base chakra. But can also relate to a particular element by their energetic metaphysical nature, colour and crystalline structure . For example crystals from the cubic crystal system relate the earth element which coincidently is represented by a cube or square!

How do we use the elemental crystals ?

The elements and crystal correspondences can be used for anything from crystal meridian balance and healing, wiccan practises to simple altars and crystal grids.

  • Rebalancing earth meridians not only by using matching crystal energies but also by burying crystals in the ground to rebalance and direct energy.
  • By simply place certain crystals on the meridians on the body, we can mimic the effect of acupuncture needles. Feng Shui, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Qigong, and Acupuncture. Are all modalities which work to create a balancing of the 5 Elements (Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, and Metal) within the body and create a healthy Qi (Chi) flow throughout the meridians.
  • Cleansing your crystals with each of the elements.
  • Ether - under the nights sky
  • earth literally buried within the soil or bury in salt
  • water- oceans,  rivers or rain
  • air- smudge, ring a bell or tings ha for sound vibrations
  • Fire - candle light, fireplace or under the pranic energy of the sun
  • educate yourself in the destructive and constructive cycles of the elements in order to address balance and rebalance of energies within healing.
